We recently posted an article sharing information about wedding limousine services tailored to avoid stress for the bride and groom who are researching and making preparations for their big day. While writing this article, several questions were raised that were not fully addressed in the article. The purpose of this article is to answer the questions that you may have as you make preparations for your special day!

Why do limousine services in Calgary have a minimum number of booking hours for a wedding limo service?
The reason limousine companies have a “minimum booking hours” for weddings comes down to 2 factors: one is practicality and the other is economics.
Practicality:
Weddings often don’t follow a strict schedule. Delays, unforeseen events, and emotional moments can cause the timeline to stretch longer than expected. To protect both parties, a minimum booking duration ensures a smoother experience for the couple, especially if the service runs longer than anticipated.
Economics:
Weddings are a multi-million-dollar industry, and vendors, including limo companies, are looking to capitalize on the demand. Wedding events often require a limo for several hours, from picking up the bride and groom to taking them to the reception and then home. This extended demand means that the limo and chauffeur are unavailable for other bookings. To protect their business interests, limo companies often implement a minimum booking policy.
For the longest time I’ve been baffled by the following:

- Why, as soon as a a prospective client mentions a “wedding”, does the limo company resort to “maximum profit” tactics? This means declaring a 4-hour or more minimum wedding limo booking requirement

- very often weddings are full-day events. In our experience, the wedding party will book a limo for the following:
– Pick up the bride and groom at a location to take them for photos
– Pick up from photo venue to transport to a church (or other venue)
– Pickup from the church (or other venue) and transport to a reception
– Pickup at the end of the night to transport to the home (or other venue)
Given this time demand on wedding limousine services, limo companies have to designate a vehicle and a chauffeur to serve the clients throughout the day. Often, as established by Murphy’s Law, the chauffeur and vehicle are called upon to respond to the needs of the wedding party at a moment’s notice. This means that the vehicle and chauffeur have to be on standby and thus are not available to be assigned to another client. This means for a wedding day the limo and chauffuer have to be ready to attend to the client.
Limousine services do not make money when the vehicle is parked. Therefore, given the time demand on wedding days, and after experience with several clients, companies respond by enforcing a “minimum hours” booking code. What this means is limo companies say ” we can boo for a minimum 4 or 6 hours” but hwat they mean is “on average wedding events take 4-6 hours so we are protecting ourselves by booking for this long.”
Not all limo companies have the “minimum hours” policy. When getting a quote, ask the company if they have one. Truth is, if you mention a “wedding” then the company will respond with the above itinerary assumptions!
Can I split my wedding limo service booking into parts? For example, can I have a reservation in the morning, another in the afternoon and a final one at night?
Yes, our clients can split their total booking hours into parts. Each part will be treated as an individual reservation and will have a unique Confirmation Number.
This option has the benefit of saving some money since you only pay for the time used and not when you’re at the event. However, the disadvantage is that releasing a limo and a chauffeur adds the risk of external factors disrupting your arrangements e.g. traffic delays while returning for the next booking, the limo might not be as clean as it was if it’s going to be used by someone else in between your bookings. Also, you will have to take your personal belongings with you.
What is your refund policy for wedding limo rentals?
